OBSESSED: Rebecca Luedemann Can’t Live Without Mega Effects Mascara

Introducing the ‘Obsessed’ series, a monthly ode to a can’t-live-without-it Avon product, passionately penned by a Representative. To kick it off, we turn to YouTube beauty blogger and makeup maven Rebecca Luedemann.

Discovering something new is one of life’s little pleasures. The last time I experienced this sensation was when I spotted my soon-to-be favourite beauty product, Mega Effects Mascara, for the first time. And then… I used it. Talk about some lashes!

Unlike other mascaras, this lash enhancer lives in a rectangular tube. At first glance, you might not associate it with makeup. But open the casing, and therein lies the secret behind this product: the Wonderbrush. The brush fits the natural shape of the eye, providing corner-to-corner coverage. Plus, the triple-threat formula lengthens, volumizes and separates, and that’s not even my favourite part. No more mascara face. You know what I’m talking about: eyebrows raised, mouth open, elbow in an unnatural position. Yeah, never again.

The first time I tried the mascara was on a visit to Avon’s headquarters in New York; I became instantly enamored. Keeping the new product a secret from my friends and family was like waiting for the sun to go down on a summer day in Arizona (where I’m from) — which is to say, it felt like a very, very long time. When it was finally released, I wasn’t the only Mega Effects addict. All of my friends and family became equally obsessed.

Mascara has always been a must-have in my makeup bag. I was born with these big, blue eyes. When my dad saw them he gave me the nickname Bright Eyes, and that’s what I’m called to this day.

I have three kids now: a six-year-old, four-year-old and a three-month-old. As you can imagine, I don’t have much time for a full-on beauty routine in the morning. So when it comes to makeup, the Mega Effects Mascara really is my saving grace. Whether I’m running my son to school or taking a quick trip to the grocery store, it gives me that quiet confidence I need. It helps me look awake and refreshed—even when I’m not quite there yet. I’m also not the best when it comes to touching up. I put this mascara on in the morning knowing that my lashes will look just as flawless at 8 p.m. as they did at 8 a.m. Even when it comes to big, bold looks, Mega Effects is what I turn to.

I recently saw the quote “my game face includes mascara,” and it really stuck with me. Mascara truly can give you that extra boost of confidence—and fast. A few years ago, I appeared on live TV to discuss summer beauty tips. I needed to feel confident and beautiful, so naturally, the mascara was the first thing I reached for. It completed my ‘game face,’ and I went out there and nailed it.

Ladies, if this can withstand the dry Arizona summer (108 degrees, people) and give someone (namely, me) the confidence to conquer an interview on live television, it can do anything.
