Interview with Fergie on Life, Love and Career

Lifestyle

FergieFrom singer and songwriter to fragrance mastermind and Avon Global Ambassador, Fergie excels at the multifaceted life. On stage she’s glamorous, glamorous (as she sings), but the real secret to her success? Staying grounded, with the right balance of family and Fergie fun.

Avon’s Beauty for a Purpose chatted with the star about what she’s learned during her view from the top.

You’ve been an icon in the music industry for well over a decade — how have you grown through your years in the spotlight?

That is a very flattering statement. I’ve become a wife and a mom, which makes you re-prioritize your life and understand that there are things more important than your career.

What are the freedoms that come with success?

It’s nice to be appreciated for your work, and that opens up more opportunities to be creative in music and also in other fields as well. Having a platform allows me support the causes important to me, such as Avon’s work with breast cancer research and awareness.

What’s the key to staying relevant and connected with fans in the different stages of your career?

I always have a project — I can’t help myself, I’ve always been like that. Developing my fragrances with Avon has been a very interactive project between my fans and me, and the feedback I get is so interesting.

What’s your top priority these days?

Being a wife and mother has impacted me far greater than I ever expected. Having a child, you realize that his life and needs become more important than your own. You have a responsibility to them that is greater than anything. In or out of the spotlight, that doesn’t change.

What does it mean to be “Fergalicious” today?

I try to get as much information I can about any decision I make, and I try to make the best decision possible. Fergalicious means being my best self, whether it’s dedicating myself in the gym (“working on my fitness” lol!) or literally smelling delicious — either with fragrance, or because my son spilled acai dessert on my clothes again!

What do you feel when you look back at your career so far?

I feel grateful that I have been able to achieve so many things that I dreamed of as a child.
